Church Retreat
Wednesday, June 22, 2005

I'm finally blogging again!! Just back from church retreat on sunday nite. It was my first retreat and i say, it really made an impact on me! I've reached a spiritual high...oops...out, i mean =) The retreat was fantastic. Certainly felt like it wasn't long enough. There were plenty of funny moments and most of all, i certainly felt God's presence with us.

Basically, we were eating all the time (probably put on a couple of kg from the 3 meals, no, 4 meals everyday), and in between, the messages and the fun. And let me tell you, the msg was really powerful. It's gonna stick around in my mind for the months to come. When Pastor Benny preached, it was really...incredible(can't think of a better word). The Holy Spirit was really there. No matter how tired, full or cold i was, i fully understood Pastor Benny and paid attention to him. Not to add, worship was awesome! I was so touched that i cried at almost every msg. I really grew closer to God and it was really amazing. The middle months of the year is usually the time where my relationship with God is most stagnant. Here's the summery(sort of) of the msg:

Besides growing closer to God, i also grew closer to my circle of frens, like Ch'ng Yi, my roommate, and Jue Yi, Caleb Leow, Paolo, Andrew Fam and Jeremy, whom me and CY hung out with most of the time during the retreat. The 7 of us stocked up on lots of snacks(which we couldn't finish), which we ate during the nite(which explains the 4th meal). Also, all of us(esp me), were treated to the full dose of Andrew's lameness, which was even colder then the air-con. But the best of all has got to be the final nite, when we played an ultimate prank on Jeremy. He's like the only one in church who could have fallen for this prank. He went to sleep before the rest of us, and halfway through the nite, the guys called him up, saying that it was time for breakfast(the actual time was around 3am). To make the long story short, we tricked him into going down for breakfast(which was at the poolside), and he asked why it was so dark. Here's what Andrew replied: "The sun rises in the east and we are in the west, so it takes some time." *rolls eyes* Truly, no one else could have fallen for that! Soon, jeremy asked for the actual time and realised that it was 3.30am in the morning. The rest of us will probably never forget that nite =)

Another time was the guys had went into their rooms and Paolo was playin with the controls. He pressed the music button and there was no sound, so Andrew said:"Pick up the phone." And he really did! Paolo falls for Andrew's antics again! And there was one nite which we stopped Jeremy from eating too much snacks, so he threw a tantrum. He took a pillow and sat outside the room on the floor, leading everyone to think that we bullied him! Which was not the case! And the funny event of the final day, was when our lunch was not provided. Frankie treated us to lunch in the chinese restuarant. We had dim sum buffet and had leftover food. So Andrew suggested playing "zhong zi mi ma" to finish up the food. And the funniest part was that Andrew himself had to eat 7 times! The rest of us nearly died laughing at him cuz if he hadn't said anything, he wouldn't have to force himself to eat all those food. =P
